Talking, Toys and Teasings

So all of a sudden out of no where, our little guy decides he wants to talk to us. It was July 23rd around 2pm when he was sitting in his bouncy chair-which he can now use because he sits up straight-and I wasn’t talking to him much. I was working on the picture slideshow and I hear this noise beside me. I look at him and his mouth is wide open all smiles. I ask him what he said and he makes more noise. He then goes on for 30mins just talking and talking. Here he is at the end of our conversation:

At the same time, I think he realized what toys mean. He has a monkey that vibrates and rings and such that he has never had any interest before. Now all of a sudden he is looking at them. Methodically he will try to reach for one-although he usually misses-and then tries to bring it to his mouth. He also has decided he wants to eat not only his toys, but his hands too. Not suck, but actually gnaw on stuff. I try to make sure he isn’t hurting his gums. Once in a while he will get his mouth on the plastic and that won’t feel good. Sometimes he also gags himself with his fingers. Here he is trying to suck his thumb but his toy is in he way. Little does he know his pacifier is also preventing the task!

He also has been teasing us all last week. He would go to bed at 10pm or 11pm and then not wake up until 2am or 3am in the morning. This was going really well, Cammon and I both started feeling like we were more than zombies. Then it happened. On Friday night he fell asleep at 11pm. I woke up the next morning around 6:10am. I tapped Cam on the head and asked him if he fed the little guy. He wasn’t sure then remembered he didn’t get up at all. He asked me if I fed him. Nope. Little Scoot Man actually slept the night. Not a peep out of him. He was not happy to wait even a second before eating that morning. We were so happy and alert and our hopes rose a little.

Then the next night we put him to bed, crossed our fingers and crawled into bed ourselves. Somehow it didn’t work. He was up every 3 hours with tummy pains, hunger and dirty diapers. We got a total of 4 hours of sleep.

Then last night we hope for the best and crawl into bed again. I have to say that last night was one of the worst nights we had in a very long time. He went down at 11pm was up again at midnight and at 1am then again at 2:30am and was awake until 6am this morning with Cam and I switching off.

I think the worst part of it is the fact that we know he COULD go the whole night because he HAS gone the whole night. Oh well, he is a tease.
